Puerto Rican supermodel Joan Smalls is at the top of her game right now – she’s got campaigns for heavy hitters like Chanel and Estee Lauder under her belt – and she was all over NY and Milan Fashion Week.
She is cover girl for the July 2012 issue of W Magazine and Lynn Hirschberg filmed her screen test where Joan charts her rise to the top:
Inside the magazine she said: “I just have something to prove…I know I’m representing a group—black, Latin, whatever you want to put me with—and I want to show that they are beautiful the way they are. I think that’s really important for our youth to see. Fashion is part of our culture…And it’s about more than just a pretty dress.”
