If you are old enough to remember Vanessa Williams when she was a pop star, you may remember her rather public battle with problem skin.
Being a rich celebrity has given her access to some of the world’s best doctors and dermatologists and she has collaborated with them to “share her secrets” in a new skin care line called ReVitalistic Skincare.
The range launches on August 3rd on everyone’s favourite shopping network QVC and analysts predict it could make her a whopping $10 million a year as well as open the door to a colour cosmetics and fragrance line.
Vanessa told WWD: “These are the greatest hits that have worked for me as I’ve aged. I’ve taken proven skin care concepts and improved them. I am involved in every aspect of it, from the name, the colour palette of the packing, the logo and the ingredients. It has been a labour of love and I have loved working on it for years until I knew it was perfect.”
The ReVitalistic range contains five products: Re-Start Skin Serum, Re-Contour Neck & Décolleté Cream, Re-Focus Firming Eye Serum, Re-Quench Anti Age Defense Intensive Moisture Treatment and Perfexture Triple Enzyme Skin Perfecting Peel. Prices will start at $48.
She continued: “I’ve tried to age gracefully in front of the camera. The gradual upgrade to high-definition video became brutal for beauty, thus exposing all my flaws. I tried everything from attention to lighting to precise makeup, but despite all the tricks, my skin had to endure intense scrutiny by millions. I needed products that were effective in reversing the signs of aging, sun damage and years of travel and makeup. I couldn’t find anything that worked for me, so I decided to create my own.”
Many a good idea is borne out of needing a product, realising it doesn’t exist so you make it yourself. Vanessa’s celebrity, connections and personal experience make this line sound like a winner.
Will you be trying it?
