Curly/Afro Hair, Try this Trend

Ways to Wear: Straightened Afro Hair

2 Comments 11 September 2012

Sleek, straightened afro hair is pretty much always in fashion and was seen at Marni, Diane von Furstenberg and Christian Dior (among others) last season.

It’s a look that’s easy to apply to afro hair, whether yours is relaxed or natural. It doesn’t necessarily have to be work parted down the middle (can anyone really pull that off?). Try adding a faux fringe, a slicked down side parting, a high swinging ponytail, or, as seen at Prada, some dip dye ends. If you want to be adventurous, consider buying a pack of already dipped weave wefts; bleach and afro hair doesn’t always end well.

For the perfect blow dry, these are our essential products:

Label M Relaxing Balm – apply two pumps before blow-drying
Moroccanoil – add generously pre and post blow-dry and just before straightening with irons

Are you a fan of the sleek, straight look?

      Thanks!

Heat is bad for your hair, there’s not really any way around that. Before adding heat you want to prepare and protect your hair as much as possible. Some prefer mousse, gels, leave in conditioners etc. I prefer oils as it seals the hair and adds shine as it provides protection against the heat. We did a video with Philip Kingsley trichologists (hair and scalp experts) which explains it all very well. Watch it here.
