Kim Kardashian is to launch her latest fragrance: True Reflection in June.
Apparently ‘True Reflection is something that Kim wanted to do to reflect on her experiences in life, what she’s gone through in the last six to 12 months, which has her thinking and reflecting on the changes in her life’ say her perfume PR people.
Quick to distance the perfume from the flour bombing and the 72 day wedding fiasco she said: “That is definitely a part of who I am, but that is not what the fragrance is about at all. It is about overcoming things and letting your true self come out.” Way to put a positive spin on things.
The bad press over the wedding hasn’t really hurt the Kim K brand – after the news of her divorce broke, sales of her fragrances remained constant – to the tune of $50 million a year. The perfume licensee said: “The fans, they just love her. No matter what she’s going through, so long as they are true fans, they will continue to support her. At the time when she got divorced, it was right before the holidays. We expected a growth spurt anyway, and it still occurred.”
She described her new scent this way: “This fragrance is different because it really changes on your body. When you spray it, it keeps on evolving, and you want to keep smelling it to figure out what that really is.”
The advert has an old-school vibe to it which Kim explains as: “In this campaign, I was channelling Elizabeth Taylor. When I was shooting it, her auctions were going up for sale. I was learning more about her. She’s an idol of mine.”
True Reflection will be available from Lord & Taylor stores in the US and will roll out to Europe later this year. All the ‘Kimye’ – the official moniker for Kim & Kanye – will help keep her name in the press and no doubt equal more perfume sales.
This will be Kim’s fourth fragrance, estimated to bring in sales of US $10 million! Have you tried any of her others?
