Celebrity Hairdresser of the Year Jamie Stevens is the resident hairdresser on The X Factor. He is no stranger to afro hair as he is also currently short listed for Afro Hairdresser of the Year. Busy man.
We caught up with him to ask what it was like working with the tresses of Misha B and Leigh Ann Pinnock from Rhythmix:
Misha B
Misha is a hairdresser’s dream. She has such a massive personality and she already has her own style identity. We have again embraced the natural texture of her afro hair. We will be playing around with her hairstyle every single week, working in different wigs and pieces over the series to create stunning graphic hairstyles.
Leigh-Anne
We have really pushed boundaries with Leigh-Anne. We have given her a Rihanna-esque hairstyle. We’ve shaved one side of her hair to a grade one. The look is quite masculine and we have put in a barber-esque hairline at the front to make it more visually graphic. We have coloured her hair a firebox/pillar box red but maintained the natural shape and texture of her afro hair. We will be experimenting with different textures and shapes in the future though.
