Ashanti Brazil is an Afro-Brazilian fashion brand from Monaco.

French Riviera based Annabel Kwateng was inspired by her annual winters in Brazil and says the brand is an amalgamation of Brazil, France and her African roots.

Brazil has a large African community and Annabel’s designs have been influenced by their food, music and dance. The designs marry strong colourful prints inspired by the beauty of the Rio de Janeiro Carnival.

Ashanti is the tribe that the founder Annabel Kwateng originates from in Africa. Now based in Monaco, she launched this brand by selling individual pieces to friends in the well heeled neighbourhoods of Ipanema and then at home on the French Riviera.

The first collection ‘Garota de Ipanema’ was launched in 2012. Her first collection is small and she hopes to launch a summer lifestyle brand and expand her range into a ‘Made in Brazil’ swimwear line next year

We love the vibrant colours and think the pieces have an almost Mary Katrantzou vibe about them. Prices start at approx £250 and so far, can only be bought online.
