Ms Naomi Campbell is doing a bit of a Tyra and launching her own modelling competition.
Unlike Tyra though, Naomi seems more interested in the model and less in the drama. At least that the impression we get from the press release.

She said: “I look forward to discovering the next great model on The Face. I’m looking for contestants who have the whole package – a beautiful face; healthy, toned body; unique look; interesting personality; confidence; and, above all, strong work ethic and drive. I’m seeking someone who possesses a global, worldly outlook, but can also be seen as a home-grown girl next door.”
We’re not sure how one person can possess all that but if we were wannabe models, we can think of worse persons to be discovered by! Naomi has been in the biz for over 25 years, walks in most fashion weeks and to all intents and purposes, is still a working model.
She has been very vocal about the lack of diversity in modelling so we’re curious to see if/how she addresses this when looking for her new protégé.
She concluded: “Most importantly I’m looking for a model with a fearless spirit who can completely transform like a chameleon, and take you on a unique journey that makes you believe that even the impossible is possible. If I find that, I’ll find a truly great model!”
Indeed!
Casting calls are currently only in New York and Los Angeles but they are accepting video submissions so if you aren’t based in the US (but could get there if successful) it might be worth considering the video option.
