Riyka is an East London label that’s ‘all about graphic, everyday pieces that can be worn wherever.’ The designers combine different materials of highest quality, either new or recycled where possible, and design them into simple shapes.
Their collection for Autumn/Winter 2012 is called ‘Are you dancing yet?’ and was inspired by the gentlemen of Bakongo a clique of extraordinarily dressed dandies from the Congo. In the midst of war and poverty these men dress in three-piece suits and immaculate brogues and it was this obsession and love for dress that captured Rikya’s eye.
Signature geometric panelling and mirrored use of the triangle nods to the African textiles so coveted by the brand.
