According to Forbes, “it’s been a tough year for celebrity couples.” Excuse us while we cry into our cereal.
T’was the year of celebrity splits; Tom & Katie, Seal & Heidi, Ashton & Demi. While some are heading to divorce courts, others recognise the power (material and otherwise) in staying together.
Take uber-woman and everyone’s favourite Tumblr account holder Beyonce Knowles. Between May 1 2011 and May 1 2012, despite popping out Blue Ivy, she still managed to rake in a cool $40 million thanks to an impressive back catalogue of hits, non-music related deals and endorsements like L’Oreal and Pepsi.
Mr Beyonce (can we get away with calling him that?) wasn’t far behind with estimated annual earnings of $38 million. His enormously successful album and subsequent tour Watch The Throne, his advertising firm Translation and cosmetics company Carol’s Daughter all had those metaphorical cash registers ringing.
$78 million dollars in 12 months. Unbelievable!
Number 2 on the list is Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady with $72 million followed by David and Victoria Beckham on $54 million.
