Five Spring Beauty Trends to Try Now

1 Comment 25 January 2012

Out with the old and in with the new as we kick off 2012. What better way to refresh our looks than with an overhaul of our beauty routine. If you’re anything like us, you’ve found a look that works for you (in our case, lots of mascara, eyeliner and a nude lip) and aren’t moving from it.
We aren’t suggesting you try all these at once but maybe a little change will do us some good?

1. The Milkmaid Plait
As seen on Jourdan Dunn at Valentino and Zoë Saldana on the red carpet, we told you how to achieve the look here.

2. The Multicoloured Manicure
You’ve probably got more than one bottle of varnish drying out on your dressing table. Put all those colours to good use by wearing a few of them at a time.

3. The Matte Statement Lip
The colour shy might need to ease themselves into this one, but a bright lip can really liven up your face. Just keep the rest of your face really bare. Coco the Clown we are not.

4. The Undercut
The brave can shave the sides of their heads; the cautious can slick it down with some gel and accentuate the difference with a rocker quiff or an exagerrated side parting like Joan Smalls at Salvatore Ferragamo.

5. Full brows
If you’ve overdone it with the tweexing, give your brows a chance to grow back (why do they always take ages when you actually want them to grow?) Otherwise fill in sparse areas with a good pencil/brow shadow – we like Benefit’s Brow Zings.

  1. I will be trying all of these, especially the milkmaid braid!
I’ve wanted to do the statement lip for ages, but I’m always nervous with bold lip colours as worried they won’t suit me and so stick to nudes…I feel a trip to the beauty counters coming on :)
