Modelling agency Models1 – home to Arlenis Sosa, Betty Adewole and Emanuela De Paula – has joined forces with plus-size agency Excel and launched a new division called Excel-Models1.
The partnership was established following research and feedback which found a gap in the market for plus-sized models working in a high-fashion environment. Together, Models 1 and Excel hope to open up the industry to more diversity in model body shapes.
We are quite taken with size UK16 beauty Amina Gerlach – at 5’9 and with generous 44 inch hips, she will make a refreshing change to high end magazines like the Vogues and Harper’s Bazaars of the world.
We have been rather dubious of this ‘plus size’ trend (poster girl of the cause Crystal Renn started out plus size and now looks like any other straight size model) but an agency like Models 1 having a dedicated plus size division shows they see some longevity in the area.
Because if the Channel 4 documentary The Model Agency taught us anything, other than that bookers swear and smoke a lot, it’s that fashion is ultimately a business and if there’s no money in something, they won’t go near it!

I’m impressed, I have to say. Actually hardly ever do I encounter a blog that’s each educative and entertaining, and let me let you know, you will have hit the nail on the head. Your idea is outstanding; the problem is something that not sufficient individuals are speaking intelligently about. I am very blissful that I stumbled across this in my search for one thing regarding this.
